Today seems to be the age of the modern gold rush where people from all around the globe are jumping on the internet start-up bandwagon. The early pioneers date back to between 2000 and 2005. These early pioneers are the veterans and many have established profitable income streams through their internet businesses.
There are however, many encouraging signs that this gold rush has not yet peaked and although the markets are much more competitive today than they were back in 2005, newcomers are still making a name for themselves, and it's not just the millenials, baby boomers are also doing quite well for themselves.
There is so much information and resources available for anyone who is prepared to take the time to sift through it.Some of it is free and some available at a price.
Personally I prefer to follow the advice offered by people who are authentic and are not just in it for the money. People such as Pat Flynn from The Smart Passive Income Blog. Pat is making a six figure income on a monthly basis from his blog, however, his intentions from the start back in 2008 were to help others as much as he could whilst being the crash test dummy himself.
Another internet entrepreneur whom I followed until his untimely death late last year was Scott Dinsmore who started up a global community of entrepreneurs through his Live Your Legend website. His wife Chelsea has carried on with his work which has hugely impacted thousands of people around the globe.
The more people I speak with, the more I hear about these profitable passion projects people are starting, or have been working on for some time. Just recently I met with a man living in Nelson, New Zealand who has a strong interest in Triumph motorcycles. He now runs a sideline business from home supplying hard to source bike parts for these bikes. Last month I was chatting with a locksmith who was replacing locks at my home in Perth and we got chatting about how he markets his business. He told me how he leases his website from the person who built the website with the intention of having it rank highly then leasing it to a targeted business such as his. He gets plenty of organic traffic and finds this much more viable than spending hundreds on Google ads each month. Apparently the website builder still holds down a full time job whilst he builds up this little sideline project.
You don't have to be an internet geek either, Websites can now be created without the need to learn codes such as HTML. Just last week I was speaking with a 74 year old woman who explained to me how to use an ipad to record interviews, and how best to use the available editing programs to present a nicely finished end product.
Just as there are a multitude of You Tubes videos out there explaining exactly how to repair your car, there are also just as many which describe in great detail how to use technology to create websites or produce creative videos using your smart phone.
I hope this post has been helpful.
