Writing this blog has been an interesting journey. When I first started out I read an article which basically said that when you are starting up a blog, it doesn't really matter what you write about, it's more about quantity and getting blog posts written on a regular basis so that those little Google bots can see that you have an active site, which helps with ranking.
This was helpful for me as I can tend to be a bit of a perfectionist which then leads to procrastination, so armed with this advice I got my blog started and didn't worry too much about the content as I guessed that there wouldn't be too many people reading it anyway.
Well, that was then and my thoughts on this have changed significantly. It's been a journey of constantly learning new stuff for me, especially as I read articles written by successful bloggers who suggest that quality is more important than quantity and that it is very important that the reader learns something tangible from reading your post. I feel that up to now, some of my posts may have been interesting or even inspiring but many of them have lacked the all important content, the takeaway information that helps my audience develop their knowledge or skill base. It is my intention from here on in to focus more on helping readers develop the skills and knowledge they need to progress their business ideas and develop their passion projects into money making businesses.
I know from talking to people, that many have these great ideas, but just don't know where to start, so I am going to start with some of the basics such as how to develop your idea, how to test it before you even start investing any money into the process. How to choose the type of website you wish to use, how to go about choosing your domain name. These are all important steps when starting up your business and if not done correctly can make your journey so much longer and harder, believe me, I made some basic mistakes when starting up, but have a learnt a lot from those mistakes. I have also learnt a lot through studying courses on digital marketing and social media marketing which I have completed over the past year or so. I have found that if I want to develop my knowledge in a particular subject, then I really need to immerse myself in the subject matter and this helps speed my learning.
