This last week I finally saw my e-book "The Winning Resume" for sale on Amazon. Hope you like the look of it.
This project is by no means completed however, as I now need to promote it, not just on Amazon but also through other channels including my other website. Once I have achieved a few more milestones in regards to this project, then I will be totally satisfied and ready to move onto the next book.
It's been a real learning curve for me getting this e-book published, mainly due to my ongoing struggle with technology. Over two full days of last week I spent many hours modifying the layout of my e-book so that it would look okay once it was reformatted to Kindle. I had written the document using Word, however, I also tried a web-based HTML format as well as PDF, but eventually found Word was the best to work with.
After two days of working on the formatting, I got to upload it to Amazon and it was accepted within 5hours. When I clicked in to check on my e-book, I discovered that the pages were not numbered and therefore there was no indication of how long or short the book was. This was a huge flaw. I had numbered the pages but with changing the format several times, the page numbers must have got lost along the way. I immediately went to rectify this, however, for some reason struggled with renumbering my pages. It was at this stage that I decided I needed help. I found this help through a website called Fiverr which I had used for the cover design. A young woman from Bahrain attempted to fix the problems, however, because of the special layout that I have used for resume examples throughout the book, she needed to give it back to me unfinished. At this stage I am waiting to hear back from a formatter from Thailand who sounded confident of being able to complete the task.
I must acknowledge that this e-book is the result of a team effort. Firstly my good friend Julie and my daughter's partner Mark both helped with checking the document for spelling, punctuation and formatting mistakes of which they both found several. My other daughter Aimee as well as Mark, Amber and Julie also assisted with the selection of the cover design.
I intend on following up with other job search related e-books to build up a series which I will promote through Amazon as well as through my resume writing website.
I'm hoping my next e-book won't take as long as this one to complete. I'm sure it won't.
If you are looking at writing your own resume, then this book would be a great place to start. I have written it in a step-by-step manner guiding you through the different sections of building up a resume.
It would be really appreciated if you found the time to write a short review on Amazon also as good reviews are crucial when marketing an e-book.
